The Ruby Apple: the 40th Anniversary Ornament

The apple is the original ornament of Christmas, a descendant of the ancient "Paradise Trees" of Germany, which spread through Europe at the Christmas Trees we know today.

It seems fitting, then, to celebrate 40 years as a glassblower, with the very first form to adorn a Christmas Tree.  40th anniversaries are called the "Ruby Anniversary", and thus the Ruby Apple was born.

The glass that makes up this ornament is precious, containing elemental gold and was brought in from Germany specifically for this design.
